Cable Continues to Dominate DSL - broadbandreports.com - Cable providers continue to gobble up the lion's share of the U.S. broadband market, according to the latest analysis of subscriber additions by the Leichtman Group. With many telcos unable or unwilling to engage in significant last mile upgrades, cable operators took home 75% of new subscribers in 2011 -- thanks largely to the triple play and faster DOCSIS 3.0 speeds. The eighteen largest cable and telephone providers in the US -- representing about 93% of the market -- acquired 3 million total new broadband subscribers in 2011. (read more)
